9 ingredients to avoid in processed foods

Artifical_sweeteners

I believe that we should avoid all processed foods. Period.
Unfortuneatly we live in a "processed society," which makes complete avoidance difficult.

Here is Brett Brumenthal's great blog post about the 9 worse ones to avoid - thanks Brett!

Artificial Colors
Artificial Flavorings
Artificial Sweeteners
Benzoate preservatives
Brominated Vegetable Oil
High Fructose Corn Syrup
MSG

About this class:

First you will learn to how to make an 3 course raw-food meal (and your dinner).
Then we move on to delicious raw, sin-free, dessert-making: hands-on instruction, and sampling, and with a lot of Chocolate (made with raw cocoa and superfoods)!
You will also learn what you buy to replace the bad-stuff in your pantry, so that you can go home not only with recipes, but the confidence to know you can whip-up the raw desserts without stress or fancy equipment.

The benefits of eating raw food desserts is that they are made without the nutrient-void and harmful ingredients (aka bad stuff) typically found in traditionally cooked desserts like: Processed Flour, Butter and Processed Sugar!  Knowing how to make raw food desserts allows you to enjoy the "sweetness of life" without the guilt and damaging effects of the "bad stuff." Plus, raw desserts are full of good-for-you ingredients!

My Teaching Philosophy:
How to fit a raw-food living diet into your mainstream life is what I passionately teach.  I'm not 100% raw, and don't aspire to be. But I've added many raw food choices into my mainstream life and still lost 27 pounds and feel better than I have in years!  For example, in this class you can enjoy wine with dinner and goat cheese with raw crackers!

Pure Maple Syrup Contains Medicinally Beneficial Compounds

As you may have noticed, I'm a bit obsessed  with finding the right sweetener; One that won't break the bank or be toxic.

This article says it just might be maple syrup. I'd be sure to choose Grade B (B for Better) Maple Syrup. It's darker and thicker and has more nutrients and more flavor. If you've ever done the "Master Cleanse", you know Grade B Maple Syrup.

In the article - here's what the 2009 Young Scientist of the Year,  Dr. Seeram,  says:

"We know that plants must have strong anti-oxidant mechanisms because they are in the sun throughout their lives," Seeram said. "We already know that berries, because of their bright colors, are high in anti-oxidants.

"Now we are looking at maple syrup, which comes from the sap located just inside the bark, which is constantly exposed to the sun."
